Alumna and history of Dagoretti High School

Dagoretti High School located in Waithaka Estate within Nairobi County was founded in 1962, a couple of years before Kenya’s independence.

The institution sits about 16 kilometers from the city capital along Nairobi-Kikuyu Road.

The eight-stream school from seven decades ago used to be a colonial detention camp where many Mau Mau detainees were incarcerated.

The first legislature of Dagoretti Constituency, Dr Njoroge Magana Mungai, allegedly pioneered the secondary school.

On the other hand, the founding head master was Mr N C Bhatt. Luckily, the school has since grown in enrolment and infrastructural capacity.

Keynotes include modern classroom, science laboratories, dormitories, library, and administration block.
