Alumna and history of Njiiri School

Njiiri High School located in Kigumo Sub-County within Muranga County was founded on January 26, 1959. It was officially opened by ex-senior Chief Njiri Wa Karanja (M.B.E) and Mr. W.F. Coutts, who served as a Chief Native Commissioner.

The school named after Chief Njiri was later renamed Njiiri in the 1980s. The founding 60 boys eventually sat for the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate Examination in 1961.

As we speak, Njiiri Boys student population is estimated at 1,600 with about 70 educators and 55 non-teaching staff.
