Alumna and history of Loreto Girls High School

The prestigious Loreto Girls National High School, located in Limuru sub-county within Kiambu County, was established in 1936 by Loreto sisters from Ireland.

The founding Loreto sisters including Dolores Stafford, Theresa Joseph O’Sullivan, and Veronica Bradley purposed to provide quality education to African Girls who were largely marginalized.

The trio were reportedly inspired by Loreto Sisters founder Mary Ward who strongly believed that “women in time to come would do much” only through education.

As we speak, Loreto Girls boarding national school has a student population of nearly two thousand.

Former school administers at Limuru Girls include Eunice Wangari Njenga.
