Alumna and history of Limuru Girls
What is the history of Limuru Girls School? Limuru Girls was founded in 1922 by Arnold Buttler McDonell for his four daughters and other girls in the neighborhood.
Her Governess would become the first Headmistress and his oldest daughter, Evelyn Mitchell, the first student.
In 1926, McDonell sold the institution and its 60 acres of land to the Church Commissioners Society.
In 1936, full ownership was transferred to the Common Wealth and Continental Church Society.
