Alumna and history of Kianda Schools

Kianda School founded in 1977 by the Kianda Foundation is located along Kabarsiran Avenue in the Westlands area of Nairobi, Kenya.

American educator Olga Marlin is credited for instituting the academic centre alongside Opus Dei founder Josemarรญa Escrivรก.

The success of Kianda Secretarial College from 1961 allegedly inspired the formation of a secondary school.

In the first batch of 40 form one students was the former first lady Margret Kenyatta.

For the record, the name “Kianda” means “fertile valley” in several Bantu languages. In essence, the name symbolizes a place where everything planted grows and flourishes.
